“Darkness cannot drive out darkness , only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

–Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

There are times in the year when you are reminded why you hate your family members–those times are called holidays.

Giving Thanks

As a nation, today we give thanks for another year we’ve made it through the sowing and reaping in life.

As a nation, today we give thanks for another year we’ve made it through the sowing and reaping in life.

Personally I’m grateful for my life, warts and all. It hasn’t always been easy or fun, but it has been well worth the ride, tough times included.

We all should be thankful for another day, another year alive. If you are reading this then you have much to be grateful for and in fact even the poorest of us live better than royalty even a few hundred years ago.

For those who struggle in life, just remember that it gets better as you go along. You will find a way through the darkness and with Grace you will find a better world and life for you and your loved ones.

Even if you have disabling conditions, just remember that there are some who are no longer alive or have a worse condition than yourself. And know that you, those afflicted and infirmed, carry the weight of a lot of the world on your shoulders. If it wasn’t for your strength to carry on, many of us would give up ourselves. You are the bastion of strong character and will of the spirit. And sometimes in life we are broken in ways that others can’t fathomed BECAUSE our creator knew we could carry it without making a mess for others. I’ve known many able bodied and “sane” people who were some of the biggest wimps you’d ever meet and would not be able to carry your pain and suffering the way you do.

I leave you with American President Abraham Lincoln’s 1863 Thanksgiving Proclamation.

Good day and God’s speed.

President Abraham Lincoln’s
Proclamation of Thanksgiving
Issued, October 3, 1863

The year that is drawing towards its close has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God.

In the midst of a civil war of unequaled magnitude and severity, which has sometimes seemed to invite and provoke the aggressions of foreign States, peace has been preserved with all nations, order has been maintained, the laws have been respected and obeyed, and harmony has prevailed everywhere, except in the theater of military conflict; while that theater has been greatly contracted by the advancing armies and navies of the Union.

The needful diversions of wealth and strength from the fields of peaceful industry to the national defense have not arrested the plough, the shuttle or the ship. The axe has enlarged the borders of our settlements, and the mines, as well of iron and coal as of the precious metals, have yielded even more abundantly than heretofore. Population has steadily increased, notwithstanding the waste that has been made in the camp, the siege and the battlefield; and the country, rejoicing in the consciousness of augmented strength and vigor, is permitted to expect continuance of years with large increase of freedom.

No human counsel hath devised, nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy.

It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and voice by the whole American people; I do, therefore, invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next as a Day of Thanksgiving and Prayer to our beneficent Father, who dwelleth in the heavens. And I recommend to them that, while offering up the ascriptions justly due to him that, for such singular deliverances and blessings; they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it, as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes, to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquility, and union.

In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the United States to be affixed.

Done at the city of Washington this third day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, and of the independence of the United States the eighty-eighth.

Abraham Lincoln

If a potential mate, partner, pair bond, girlfriend, boyfriend shows you “crazy” or “psycho” early on….run.

Shadowed Face

If a potential mate, partner, pair bond, girlfriend, boyfriend shows you “crazy” or “psycho” early on….run. Run away as fast as you can because most of the time we shadow our true selves or show a mild version of who we are early on so we don’t scare people away who might be worth making ourselves golden for. People who show you angry, aggressive early on are only going to be more of that as time wears on.

Options, not Priorities

In a world of abundant consumer goods, it is no surprise that we have become accustomed to simply discarding things if they are broken or old.

In a world of abundant consumer goods, it is no surprise that we have become accustomed to simply discarding things if they are broken or old.

In much the same way, on a planet of 8 billion humans we do much the same thing. People who are broken, old, or don’t tow the party line get relieved of graces quickly. We all have become interested only in ourselves and not what others are doing, how they are feeling, but how they can help us get ahead.

It is rote to understand that in a disposable society that people will become lost and mentally unstable. When you make people options and not priorities they will fall…and with it, civilization is be disposed of.
